What was it?

"what do you think it is" said Greg, "I have no idea but its big and dead" Jim called. So the 2 men walked along way to get some help moving the thing out of the road, as they where miners. The took it to a lab where they did tests on it. Soon the men came to the lab to see if they new what it was, but Greg and Jim where in there mining clothes so they had to go home and have a shower. When they got back to the lab it was easy to see that they didn't know what it was.....So what really was that thing?
