Whakatu's Big Day Out !

On Monday 21st Whakatu house, (Rm 4, 5 and 13) headed off to Tahunanui beach so we could build our team stronger by
Co-operation.

First part of the boiling day was to apply sunscreen and some people didn't apply it properly and had white streaks down their sunburnt face for the rest of the day haha anyway after that we had to make huge letters in the sand using beach materials to spell "W h a k a t u H o u s e" but we had to rush because the water was coming in at the speed of light towards the almost perfect beige sand with only one flaw, the gray blemishes, the surface was dotted like a children's connect the dots picture.

We were then split into 12 groups and each group had to work on each letter but not before Ms Cribb made us run toward a honey-coloured "Beach Cafe" sign and threatened to make the last person to return run again. THAT got us going luckily she was only trying to motivate us. Everyone finished in time and the words were swept away and Mr Melisea (Cole's Dad) called out the winners : both the 'H's. Then we all trudged up the sandy dunes awaiting our next task..........

EATING MORNING TEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after about 15 minutes we got a "treasure map" and had to walk around Tahunanui unaccompanied in order to complete our "map" and find a treasure chest filled with chocolate!!!! That got everybody crazy and we had 1 hr to walk around and finish our questions.

After that we were all pooped so we had lunch and relaxed by having a swim or going crazy at the BMX tracks yay!!! Some people preferred BMX-ing rather than swimming at the beach and that was fine so parents split up and supervised those activities. At the beach the sand was SCORCHING HOT so we cooled off in the water. The people who were at the BMX tracks jumped and skidded around the tracks and most the girls who went, sat down by the tracks and talked. Tayne fell off his bike by speeding as he went over a bump and flew into a ditch ..........heheh

Then the supervisors announced that it was time to go back and we all packed up (but some people went to dry off) and we waited for them to get their hair done ......blah blah blah

When were sure everyone had arrived, some people got picked up right there while others rode back to good ol' Broadgreen.

My first 24hrs of life at Broadgreen....

We waited outside Broadgreen Intermediate school to be called into the hall for the beginning of a new year. We were all waiting in a roudy group outside the main entrance. Then we all charged through the doors into the hall and waited for our teachers to call us out to the class. "Mrs Parker awesome!' After morning tea we had a house meeting. We were in Whakatu. Mrs Cribb told us that Whakatu missed out winning the cup by three points. This year will be different because we will win! our first morning tea was awesome all we did was sat under a tree and watched the people play on the confidence course. We saw heaps of people from our old school.

Our very first post for 2011 !!!!! Our first day at B.I.S

My first day at BIS room five....

I woke up feeling like it was another day, another day not wanting to go to school, holidays are over no more late nights no more sleeping in.
Moaning and groaning as I get called out of my comfy, warm bed.I sat wondering on the edge of my bed " What teacher will I have this year ? " and " What about my friends what class will they be in mine or some others ? ".
Pulling on my uniform it feels a bit strange in my crisp, clean blouse "Ugh" I moan at this early start.
Walking like a zombie I walk to the kitchen table there sits my breakfast ."Thanks Mum "I think sighing "It's toast again".
Arranging my rides with my friends I turn nervously to my Mum "Time to go " she calls, I'm thinking "NO THE PAIN ".
When I arrive I'm sucked into a crowd of Broadgreener's tugged ,pushed and pulled I eventually find my friends.
Standing with them waving and pointing out I know that my friends could meet .A line forms snaking into the hall so we join and finally found a spot for my friends and I to sit down, the first teacher comes and stand out in front of the crowd and calls out her new class's names. Little did I know that Mrs Parker from room five was going to be my teacher for 2011 the whole YEAR ....I nervously stood up and my friend stood too I whispered "Why are you standing up?'' She replied "Duh I'm in your class!" "Oh I knew that ".We walked out a bit unsure of what to expect in this new class I circled the desks in the class looking for my name tag. My teacher was now introducing herself ."She sounds pretty awesome ". Now it was our turn to introduce ourselves. Once that was FINALLY OVER we went in groups of three or four with the people next to us and around the school till interval. After interval we had a team meeting and talked about events coming up and Whakatu. Then it was team-building up till lunch time. By lunch I had made a new friend and learned a lot about my teacher and new classmates. At lunch I was catching up with all my friends talking, laughing and chilling out just like the old times !!! after lunch we started to do name tags, where you make your own name tag on this big piece of paper and colour it in with oil pastels... AND NOW SCHOOLS OUT (for today anyway) !!!!!!.
