Running for cover it was the end, my bleeding shoulder was killing me, my body throbbed with pain and the lack of blood made my vision blur. The trench wasn't far, I heard the word "intruder" and I could hear the rifles hit the wood on the top of the trench wall. Another voice called out "take another step and we'll shoot." I cried out "would you really shoot me? I'm on your side, I've been shot in the shoulder." That's when my life was about to end. I fell over in a patch of poppies left to die, my vision darkened into blackness forever more.
LEST WE FORGET.
