This morning Broadgreen held a blessing for the totara carving that Matua Mark made for our hall. In preparation we went to room 4 to practice the schedule and the song (Ko toku Maraie tenei). We then left to meet outside the front entrance to the hall were we were gathering.
The blessing was led by one of our kapa haka leaders as she called us in with a karanga then there were speeches and singing. We were then all asked to pass under the carving and place our hands on it if we were tall enough to reach it. We now have a beautiful new carving leading into our school.
